Our Philosophy

Enhance Your Beauty.
Never Alter It.

The Art of Subtle Results

Shannon's approach to cosmetic injectables is rooted in restraint and artistry. She believes the goal of every treatment should be a refreshed, natural-looking version of you, never a departure from it. Her patients are consistently described as looking "well-rested" and "radiant," never overdone.

Hormones & Aesthetics Together

Because Shannon also specializes in hormone optimization, she understands how hormonal changes affect skin quality, volume loss, and the aging process. This dual expertise allows her to recommend treatments that work in harmony with your internal health, addressing more than just the surface.

shannon's approach

Personalized, not prescribed.

Shannon does not follow a formula. Every face is different, and every consultation begins with a thorough conversation about your goals, concerns, and what "natural" means to you. She will never recommend a treatment she does not believe will genuinely benefit you.

Her 8+ years of injectable experience combined with her background in hormones and internal medicine gives her a uniquely holistic perspective on facial aesthetics, one that considers your whole health picture, not just the surface.

Thorough Consultation First

Every appointment begins with an in-depth conversation. Shannon listens before she recommends anything.

Dual Expertise Precision

Combining internal medicine knowledge with aesthetic artistry for results that respect your whole health.

Follow-Up & Ongoing Relationship

Shannon remains your provider as your needs evolve. She adjusts your plan with you over time.

Medical-Grade Standards & Safety

As a board-certified FNP, Shannon brings clinical expertise and rigorous safety standards to every treatment.

Botox vs. Dysport

Two products.
One goal.
A refreshed you.

Both are trusted neuromodulators that soften lines and restore a refreshed appearance. Understanding the differences helps Shannon tailor the right choice for your goals, your anatomy, and your timeline.

Botox and Dysport are both neuromodulators, injectable treatments that temporarily relax specific facial muscles to soften lines and wrinkles. They are commonly called "wrinkle relaxers" and are among the most popular cosmetic treatments performed in the country.

While both products use botulinum toxin type A and achieve the same results, their formulas, protein structures, onset timing, and unit dosing differ in ways that can make one a better fit than the other depending on the patient.

At Optimized Balance and Beauty, Shannon chooses between Botox and Dysport based on your individual anatomy, goals, and history with injectables. Both are options available to her patients.

 SIDE BY SIDE

Botox vs. Dysport

A clear breakdown of how these two treatments compare across the factors that matter most.

FORMULA

ONSET OF RESULTS

DURATION

UNITS PER TREATMENT

SPREAD

Botox

Contains a protein shell around the modulator that takes longer to break down.

Protein Shell

14+ Days

Results typically begin to appear around two weeks post-treatment.

3–4 Months

FDA-indicated duration. Some patients report results lasting slightly longer with Botox.

Fewer Units

More concentrated product. Roughly 1 unit of Botox equals 3 units of Dysport.

More Targeted

Stays closer to the injection site. Ideal for precise, localized areas.

Dysport

Milk Protein

Contains a milk protein that spreads more once injected, breaking down the modulator faster.

~7 Days

Results are generally visible about one week after treatment — roughly twice as fast.

3 – 4 Months

FDA-indicated duration is the same. Some patients find Dysport fades slightly sooner.

More Units

Dysport is measured in its own unit system and simply reflects how the product is measured, not how much you're receiving.

Wider Diffusion

Spreads more once injected. Can be advantageous for treating larger muscle groups.

Treatment options

Which is right for you?

Both treatments are safe, effective, and deliver beautiful results. The differences are subtle but meaningful, and Shannon will help you navigate them.

Treatment Option One

Botox

The Trusted Classic

ADVANTAGES

  • Highly targeted and precise for small, specific areas.
  • The most studied and widely recognized neuromodulator.
  • Ideal for individuals who prefer a firm, classic line-softening effect.
  • Reliable results that typically last three to four months.

CONSIDERATIONS

  • Take longer to fully "set in" (up to 14 days).
  • Requires more protein in its formula than Dysport.

Shannon’s Preferred Treatment

Treatment Option Two

Dysport

Shannon’s Preferred Neuromodulator

  • Faster onset of results, and often visible within 3–5 days.
  • Spreads naturally for a soft, seamless, and "untouched" look.
  • Excellent for larger areas like the forehead or glabella.
  • Shannon's personal choice for a refreshed, never-frozen result.
  • Results remain effective for three to four months.

ADVANTAGES

  • Formulated with a milk protein (not suitable for milk allergies).
  • Diffuses more than Botox, requiring expert placement.

CONSIDERATIONS

shannon's Perspective

How she chooses.

Shannon does not default to one product. She selects between Botox and Dysport based on the individuals anatomy, treatment history, goals, and how quickly they wish to see results.

Her background in internal medicine and hormone optimization means she also understands how your overall health picture, including hormonal shifts that affect skin quality and collagen, influences how you respond to injectables over time.

If you've tried one and weren't satisfied, she'll discuss whether switching makes sense. And if you're new to neuromodulators entirely, she'll walk you through every factor before making a recommendation.

Anatomy-First Assessment

Every face is different. Shannon maps your muscle structure and skin quality before selecting a product or dosing plan.

Treatment History Matters

If you've had injectables before, Shannon reviews what worked, what didn't, and whether a change in product or technique is warranted.

Honest Guidance, Always

Shannon will never push a treatment you don't need. If a product is not the right fit for your goals, she will tell you, and clearly and without pressure.

The Full Picture

As both an injector and hormone specialist, Shannon considers your skin quality, hormonal status, and overall wellness when planning your treatment.
